The Phoenix Celebrity Classic is a nationally televised celebrity golf event featuring the most well recognized celebrity actors, athletes, and entertainers of today and yesteryear. The 2008 event was held on May 7-10, 2008 at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix, AZ. (2009 event Dates TBD) Golf was played at the Lookout Mountain Golf Club at Tapatio Cliffs. This magnificent par-71 course has been named by Golf Digest as one of the 450 best public courses in the country and Lookout Mountain has been consistently voted one of the top 25 golf courses in the state of Arizona. In addition to the Phoenix Celebrity Classic, the club has hosted many prestigious golf events including the 1989 Arizona Senior Classic and the 1994, 1995, 1996 NBC Skills Challenge.
The event's mission is to provide a one-of-a-kind corporate hospitality experience for participants while helping raise money for a local/regional charity. The 2008 beneficiary was the Foundation for Blind Children (www.seeitourway.org).
The event is four days long (Wednesday-Saturday) and features two days of a celebrity-am competition (Thursday/Friday), a one day celebrity only competition (Saturday), and daily evening functions with silent/live auctions and headline entertainment. The national TV broadcast is being syndicated to 60 Million TV HH between June 15-September 30, 2008 on mostly broadcast, but some cable stations, during key weekend sports adjacency time periods.
